Building Strong Community Schools: Now More Than Ever

Community schools across America are improving student learning and strengthening families and communities in many measurable ways.

Location: Harvard Graduate School of Education, Longfellow Hall (previously Gutman Center), Cambridge, MA

Time: 8 AM- 4 PM

Forum Goal: To deepen the understanding of community schools and the commitment to their expansion.

Forum Objectives:

  • Promote the community schools vision and strategy among local policy makers.
  • Demonstrate the effectiveness of community schools across the Northeast.
  • Provide tools and resources to help make the case for community schools.
  • Build the capacity of participants to create, lead and sustain community schools.
  • Provide opportunities to interact with local policy makers and hear their views on the importance of community schools.
  • Make connections among advocates for community schools within and across the Northeastern states.
  • Hear practitioners and leaders share their personal experiences and successes with community schools
Audience: The forum will provide New England educators, child, youth, family and community agency service providers, parents, policy-makers, and members of the philanthropic and business communities with an opportunity to learn how important full-service/community schools are for students, schools, families and communities -- now more than ever.
