From
Research to Practice
There are four key elements that are vital to the success of
community schools:
> A motivating vision
that
mobilizes school and
community, moves schools and their partners
toward shared goals, guides their day-to-day
relationships, and encourages accountability.
> Connected learning
experiences linking
classrooms and the real world that are aligned
with learning standards, communicated and
planned with partners, and focused on the conditions
for learning.
> Community partnerships
that bring together
a range of assets and perspectives, focus on the
shared vision and results, and provide for continuous
learning among partners.
> Strategic organization
and financing that
support effective working relationships, a community
schools coordinator, flexible funding and
a willingness to share resources.
