"Building Bridges Between Education and Youth Development "

Overview: Milbrey McLaughlin, Ph.D., a national leader in youth
development and education, reflects on the impact of the National
Research Council’s new report, Community Programs to Promote
Youth Development youth development organizations and her own
research, which combines studies of K-12 education policy in the U.S.
and work on community-school collaboration to support youth
development.

"Developing Effective Sustainability Plans"

California Center for Community School Partnerships / Healthy Start Field Office - UC Davis, CA

Overview: Participants will hear: 1) How the community schools
approach is making significant impact on student growth and
learning and community well being;
2) How the community schools approach is helping to meet the
mandates of nation wide education reforms;
3) Why this approach should be an essential component of public
education at all grade levels. Real life examples will be shared.
Participant interaction and valuable handouts will also be
distributed.
